In 1997, three men, Charles Bullard, Perry Galanos and Richard Stiles, left the comforts of their secure jobs and came together with a common goal of building an exclusive in-room coffee company for the lodging industry. They saw a need that was lacking for hospitality owners and had the vision and determination to fill that need. Their experience was in all areas of the “away from home” coffee industry and they made the decision to focus only on in-room coffee product. After extensive research and communication with workers in the hospitality business, their idea of providing in-room coffee exclusively for the lodging industry was formed into Diplomat Coffee. Their goal to provide an exceptional cup of coffee at a great value and in a timely manner to the hospitality industry was met with a lot of hard work, perseverance and diligence.

Armed with one machine to pack coffee and using borrowed space from another coffee company, Charlie, Perry and Rick worked as owners, salesmen, manufacturers and deliverymen. They each took a shift throughout the day to run the machine and pack cases of coffee for their customers. The product was loaded into their cars and delivered fresh to their customer’s doorstep. In 1998, they delivered 2,500,000 packs of coffee.

Within a year, the news spread of the personal attention that Diplomat Coffee offered their customers. More and more hospitality distributors were turning to them to provide for their coffee and condiment needs.

In 1999, Diplomat Coffee was able to move into a warehouse space of their own. They were able to hire employees to run the machines which enabled Charlie, Perry and Rick to focus their abilities on sales and further develop their company. They were now well equipped to provide more extensive personal attention to their customers.

Today, Diplomat Coffee owns several state-of-the art coffee packing machines and has the capabilities to provide private logo film, custom blended coffee that is freshly packed for each order, a variety of condiment kits, an extensive list of allied products and provide excellent customer service. In 2007, Diplomat Coffee shipped over 75,000,000 packs of coffee and have a goal of shipping 100,000,000 packs by 2010. They are one of the top sought after coffee providers in the nation. Their goal of providing quality coffee at a great price has not changed, but their vision continues to grow. They are constantly implementing new ideas to better provide for their customers in the hospitality industry.
